November 2024: SFLCV endorses Danny Sauter for District 3

District 3 faces significant challenges, with a high percentage of residents without cars and a severe lack of safe bike infrastructure. The district also exhibits a stark housing dichotomy, featuring high-density housing for lower-income residents alongside low-density homes owned by some of the city’s wealthiest residents. To address these issues, Sauter supports increased housing density, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and ensuring future generations can afford to live in their neighborhoods.

Sauter supports the Beach Street bike lane project in District 3, supports a car-free Market Street, and opposed widening Highway 280 in San Francisco when it was proposed.  He proposes  transit-only or transit-priority changes along key bus lines such as the 8, 30, and 45, the return of the 41 bus, and the expansion of routes 1, 12, and 45, particularly during peak hours. These initiatives align with the goals of reducing car dependency and improving public transit efficiency.

Sauter supports the positions of the San Francisco League of Conservation Voters on every topic in the questionnaire. This makes him perhaps the most aligned candidate with the SFLCV among all supervisor candidates across districts. His comprehensive support for environmental policies underscores his role as a true environmental champion.

Given Sauter’s robust track record on the key climate policy topics of housing and transportation, as well as other environmental issues, he stands out as the most environmentally focused candidate in District 3. His alignment with SFLCV positions and proactive proposals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions make him the ideal choice for environmental voters in San Francisco.
